Beauty Skin Necessities after Bariatric Surgery every patient should consider during recovery

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

Adopting a proper post-surgery skincare routine can have tremendous benefits for your skin's health and appearance. Not only will you experience faster healing and reduced scarring, but it can also help prevent infection and reduce discomfort. Additionally, following a regular skincare routine can help maintain the positive outcomes of your surgery in the long term.

For post-weight loss surgery patients, starting a skincare routine can be the key to helping them maintain the health of their new body. It is important to develop an effective skincare regimen in order to protect the skin and avoid infection or other issues. Create a plan that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting the skin with sunscreen. I have super sensitive skin and these products are amazing! So let's go!!!

1. Cerave (Cleanses and Exfoliates)

Why: An exfoliator removes dead skin cells and smooths skin. It acts as a chemical exfoliant, which feels less harsh than physical ones like exfoliating body scrubs. suitable for dry skin, sensitive skin, oily skin, acne-prone, and more. Fragrance free, paraben-free, allergy-tested, and non-comedogenic

Why: Our skin is dry after surgery and we need replenishment. This is by far one of my daily go to's. My dermatologist recommends this brand and I also use all the face products because of my rosacea.

3. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Why: Our Skin is so Dry Post-op, this is so moisturizing and has more of a creamy texture.

Why: We need to protect our skin from the sun! Especially our face! My dermatologist recommended this to me and I have 4 bottles. 2 bottles of clear and 2 of the tinted. I keep one in my purse, car and the house. You should re-apply every 2 hours. It's very soothing and non-oily! (It also doesn't flair up my rosacea)

Why: We have Chapped Lips after surgery that is very painful and we need sun protection. This is very moisturizing!

I'm always updating and looking for the best products for you as if it were me looking when I was in my beginning stages. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and it's nice to have someone who can share tips and resources.
